Pathways to Primary Care Residency Mentor Program

Resident Physician – Pathways Program into Primary Care Location: Connecticut Position Highlights & Primary Responsibilities Mentorship from an experienced physician leader at ProHealth Physicians to support transition from training into a full‑time primary care physician role. Consistent check‑ins via phone, virtually, or in‑person with a minimal time commitment (3 hrs / month) and a bi‑weekly salary throughout final year of residency training. Enhancement of experience during final months of residency while eliminating the burden of job searching and finding the right place to start a primary‑care career. Gain perspective on how to effectively operate and thrive within a value‑based care model in a system driving population health initiatives. Grow exposure to the Quadruple Aim framework and various understandings of care settings offered at Optum: Affordability, Quality Outcomes, Patient Satisfaction, and Clinician Well‑Being. Customize your experience in an individualized program completed at ProHealth Physicians facilities and/or virtually with deep exposure into primary care and working in the practice environment. Minimum time commitment: a few hours per month (1–3 hrs), compensated bi‑weekly in addition to a post‑resident primary care physician position. Learn about the organization and practice you will be joining while ensuring that your experience in the program is personalized and valuable to your overall development and understanding of primary care, value‑based care, team‑based care, and outpatient patient‑centered care. Required Qualifications M.D. or D.O. Transitioning into final year of residency or fellowship, or early into final year (PGY‑2 Resident Physician transitioning into PGY‑3). Preferred Qualifications Local physician resident in Connecticut (not required). Candidate who plans to practice primary care in Connecticut post‑residency. Compensation & Benefits The hourly range for this role is $83,000 to $124,500 per hour based on full‑time employment. Pay is based on several factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
