Data Scientist - Onsite - Junior Level

Salary: $90,000 - 100,000 per year Requirements:

• Masters degree in data science, machine learning, statistics, applied mathematics, a quantitative engineering discipline, or a related field, or at least two years of relevant experience
• Proven experience deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments
• Ability to understand a problem domain and incorporate domain knowledge into models
• Familiarity with software development practices, including Python, SQL, Git, code review, and container technologies
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to non-specialists and work with customers, stakeholders, and other departments
• Ability to plan over longer time horizons and coordinate work packages
• Willingness to work on-site and travel to customer locations
• Desired: Experience with hybrid, gray-box, or physics-informed modeling, or with enhancing first-principles or simulation models using data-driven methods
• Desired: Experience developing virtual or soft sensors, digital twins, or model-based monitoring for industrial or physical processes
• Desired: Proficiency with deep learning methods and frameworks
• Desired: Exposure to industrial, manufacturing, or process domains such as steel, metals, chemicals, or energy

• Collaborate with process engineers, metallurgists, and domain experts to understand production processes and the data they generate
• Translate process knowledge into model structures, including constraints, features, and relationships
• Participate in site visits to connect raw signals with physical behavior
• Improve existing process models with data-driven methods while retaining effective physics-based components
• Design hybrid models combining first-principles or domain sub-models with machine learning
• Develop virtual or soft sensors to estimate quantities that are difficult or costly to measure directly
• Lead data science work from scoping and data analysis through feature engineering, modeling, validation, and production deployment
• Select appropriate algorithms and tools, from feature-based methods to deep learning
• Build engineering prototypes and convert successful experiments into reliable, maintainable production solutions
• Monitor live model performance, diagnose drift, and retrain or recalibrate models as conditions change
• Maintain and optimize deployed solutions for accuracy, robustness, and runtime performance
• Coordinate with product, engineering, and project management teams to align data science work with roadmaps and goals
• Engage with customers to gather feedback, refine solutions, and support adoption of data-driven approaches
