Software Lead, Robotics Engineering

Salary: $208,500 - 216,500 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for 5-10 years of software engineering experience, with a strong background in robotics, IoT, or hardware-adjacent environments.
• We need strong proficiency in Python, along with experience in at least a few additional programming languages.
• Experience with PLC programming, especially Structured Text, is a strong advantage, though we are open to training a highly motivated engineer.
• We want someone who is comfortable moving across different layers of the stack to help unblock the team and solve product challenges.
• Previous experience as a tech lead or senior engineer, with the ability to shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and drive execution, is important.
• A bachelors degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
• We require a minimum of 4 days per week in the office, with additional on-site days as needed based on project demands.
• This role is based in our Boston office in Charlestown, MA.

• We will have you architect, build, and lead a new early-stage Robotics R&D initiative from the ground up.
• We expect you to serve as the foundational engineer on a greenfield project, working closely with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and product teams.
• You will spend much of your day writing software in Python and PLC while establishing the core software foundations.
• We need you to develop the core software architecture for a new robotics product using internal technologies and established patterns from our other product lines.
• You will collaborate with hardware teams to translate physical mechanisms into reliable software controls.
• You will rapidly prototype, iterate on concepts, and write adaptable code to validate product viability.
• You will act as the technical connector across the stack, jumping between layers to unblock development and resolve complex issues.
• Within your first year, you will transition into the day-to-day software lead role, guiding execution, mentoring domain experts, and driving the project forward without formal line management.
