Position Overview Position that works closely with management personnel and employees at all levels to further develop the facilities Safety and Environmental Systems. The role administers the Environmental and Health and Safety (EH&S) Systems for the Brunswick New York Mills Operation. Essential Functions Ensure plant safety by providing a safe environment for employees and actively supporting the departmental audit program (SMS procedures). Develop and implement a proactive EH&S System to support required activities within the Safety Management Systems. Provide strong leadership and influencing skills to drive continuous safety improvement initiatives and lead culturally transformative behavioral processes. Conduct inspections and audits, investigate incidents and injuries, and drive accountability to resolve issues. Lead or facilitate problem‑solving teams to identify root causes for incidents. Manage all Worker’s Compensation activities in coordination with Brunswick’s work comp Director, ESIS case manager, and Human Resources, including Return to Work Program. Utilize the AIC System to ensure implementation of corrective actions and SMS for EH&S policies and best management practices. Conduct all EH&S training for facility personnel and oversee monitoring activities, including facilitating the Employee Safety Committee. Prepare and maintain all EH&S documentation and reporting deadlines, and communicate with governmental agencies. Maintain plant Safety Data Sheet records and provide all necessary hazard communications program updates and training. Ensure Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out equipment instructions are current and all new or modified equipment is LOTO compliant. Monitor federal, state, and municipal regulatory changes to ensure future compliance, and serve as a primary liaison with regulatory entities. Lead ergonomic projects to reduce worker risk of injury, proactively identifying risk operations, and partner with plant operations and engineering to integrate and sustain work practices and equipment changes. Use Lean Six Sigma training to conduct root cause analysis and solve problems through LSS methodologies and techniques. Oversee the EH&S review of new/modified processes, equipment, and chemicals. Oversee proper handling and disposal of hazardous and solid waste. Manage Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, Spill Prevention Plan, and Wastewater Plan. Provide analysis and interpretations of EH&S findings and prepare technical plans and reports as required. Review accident reports, perform analytics, and provide relevant parties with information to reduce accidents and improve safety. Communicate all relevant EH&S information to company and facility management and all facility employees. Develop annual training schedule and lead training programs; develop and administer safety incentive programs. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Management, or a related field. OSHA 30‑Hour training. Certified CPR and First Aid. Demonstrated record of strong leadership and willingness to drive change to enhance safety and environmental behaviors. Minimum five years of EH&S experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, state and local regulations. Experience in loss prevention, risk management, and workers’ compensation. Familiarity with air permit compliance. Ability to work in a team environment and drive consensus across diverse teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and adapt to changing situations. Strong analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports and prioritize work. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Compliance software experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications Leadership training. Green Belt certification. Working Conditions Works in a manufacturing and office environment; regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, and bend. Exposed to dust, odors, fumes, and moderate noise. Compensation & Benefits Pay range: $84,500 - $123,900 annually.
