Training and Outreach Facilitator

Training and Outreach Facilitator Overview: The Udall Center at the University of Arizona seeks a Training and Outreach Facilitator to coordinate training and customized outreach projects in the Native Nations Institute's (NNI) Indigenous Governance and Direct Services (IGDS) program. Working under the direction of the NNI IGDS Manager and in collaboration with NNI researchers, the incumbent will act as a co‑planner and co‑facilitator as needed to fulfill the scope of work on various training and outreach projects. The role requires strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills, the ability to work independently and maintain professionalism with minimal supervision, and flexibility to travel off‑site and attend occasional weekend commitments. This is an in‑person role based in Tucson, AZ. Responsibilities: Coordinate and/or oversee assigned NNI IGDS projects, including seminars, workshops, meetings, and other activities under the Manager’s direction. Ensure projects meet goals, objectives, timelines, and budget limits while adhering to University policies. Coordinate internal U of A activities with related NNI, Udall Center, and other University staff and departments. Draft agendas, presentation materials, and summary reports. Assist in monitoring expenditures and reporting program activities and records. Prepare special reports on project progress and status for internal program management. Facilitate NNI IGDS programs/projects as assigned. Assist in drafting content collaboratively with the IGDS team. Participate in training on "Native Nation Building" materials and facilitation methods. Attend meetings and conferences pertinent to the area of responsibility as directed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience working with American Indian, Alaska Native, or other Indigenous groups, communities, leaders, programs or initiatives. Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google apps, and internet‑based meeting platforms. Excellent oral and written communication abilities. Public speaking skills to small and large audiences. Proficiency in organizing self and others’ work. Ability to manage tasks and assignments from diverse sources. Team‑work orientation and ability to solicit and manage input from multiple stakeholders. Proficiency in virtual engagement tools. Knowledge of grant proposal development. Understanding of contemporary Indigenous nations’ governance and history. Familiarity with research findings from the Native Nations Institute and the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning achieved through professional experience. Minimum five years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience conducting information gathering on topic issues/challenges and producing/presenting informational materials. Experience with all aspects of grant proposals.
