Hybrid Patient Safety & Risk Specialist

Overview This position is full time and is hybrid, working at the Main Hospital and remotely. It supports the Sr. Manager of Patient Safety, Risk at SITE by coordinating hospital-wide patient safety initiatives and daily work at SITE. The role contributes to advancing Informed High Reliability concepts and requires frequent collaboration with Directors, Managers, hospital leadership, and staff in the Department of Quality. The specialist assists in coordinating projects across academic and operational departments and supports other patient safety staff as needed. The position is in an environment of active change management, demanding flexibility and open-mindedness as the role evolves over time. Essential Functions Collaborate with Department Chairs and Patient Care Services to facilitate the internal medical peer review process and assist in analyzing serious patient concerns and adverse events. Participate in the analysis of adverse events and serious patient concerns and assist in preparation for regulatory or accreditation agency visits. Maintain confidentiality of peer review, performance improvement, and risk management information. Help recommend corrective and preventive actions to reduce risk and support interventions in collaboration with CRICO and hospital-based improvement teams. Assist in the review and development of hospital policies related to patient safety. Help identify barriers to implementing the improvement plan and collaborate with hospital leaders to develop strategies to overcome them. Provide education and support to nurses, physicians, and committees on patient safety topics, including non-punitive reporting and error prevention. Contribute to the orientation and ongoing training of department staff as directed. Assist in preparing presentations for committees and clinical groups under the guidance of the Patient Safety Manager and clinical leaders. Must be available to work in the case of a hospital-declared emergency and to assist during regulatory agency reviews. Education Bachelor's Degree Nursing (required) Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy (required) Bachelor's Degree Physical Therapy (required) Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study (required) Experience Experience with computer and Internet (1-2 years required) Healthcare experience with clinical background (1-2 years preferred) Experience working in a large healthcare organization (1-2 years preferred) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Presentation skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Project management skills. Advanced knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
