HVAC TechnicianSeattle Center, Technical Facilities Management Division, is seeking full-time HVAC Technicians. This position will run continuously until filled, so apply today!About this position:The HVAC Technician position is part of a team responsible for operating and maintaining the Seattle Center boilers, chillers, heat pumps, AC units, plus all Air Handling Units and mixing boxes in the buildings and facilities. This HVAC Engineering unit is part of the Division of Technical Facilities Management. This position reports to the HVAC Crew Chief.A City of Seattle Grade II Steam License is REQUIRED; however, we are accepting applications from applicants with a Grade III City of Seattle Steam Engineers license, with the condition that they must obtain a City of Seattle Grade II Steam Engineers license, within six months of employment.Job ResponsibilitiesOperate, maintain, and repair central plant high pressure, fire tube boilers, and low-pressure package boilers and both steam and hot water associated equipmentOperate, maintain, and repair two central plant Centrifugal Chillers and associated equipmentPerform inspections, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance on existing equipment including valves, pumps, air compressors and associated equipmentTroubleshoot and repair A/C Units, Heat pumps and appliances.Operate, install, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC computerized control systemOperate and maintain back-up diesel generator systemsMonitor and reset fire control panelsRepair and maintain hydraulic systems on compactors and truck rampsMonitor and record readings of all equipment, prepare maintenance records of repair workRespond to routine emergency callsPerform, chemical test and treatment for boilers, cooling towers and Hydronic and chilled water loop systemsQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Current City of Seattle Grade II Steam Engineers License is required.Requires two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of HVACR systems or two years of technical school HVACR coursework (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).License, Certification, and Other Requirements:A current City of Seattle Grade II Steam Engineers LicenseA valid Washington State Driver's License and good driving recordAbility to obtain a City of Seattle Refrigeration Operator's License within 90 days of employmentYou will be successful in this role if you have:Excellent troubleshooting skillsThe ability to work within a diverse workforceDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting or aloneDemonstrated ability to follow verbal or written instructionsDemonstrated ability to organize work, solve medium to complex problems and manage priorities and inflexible deadlinesWork experience in maintaining and operating digital control systemsWork Environment/Physical Demands:Stand, walk, climb, climb ladders, bend for extended periods of timeLift up to 50 lbs. HVAC Technicians work various shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidaysAdditional InformationThe full pay range for this step-progression position is $71.62 - $77.49 per hour. New employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression, which is $71.62 hourly.
