Summary:

The Director of Pharmacy - Ambulatory Services provides leadership and oversight for post-acute and ambulatory pharmacy services at UNC Health. This leader is responsible for leading the strategic and operational objectives consistent with UNC Health's mission, values, and long‑term growth strategy while ensuring alignment, continuity, financial sustainability, operational excellence, and high‑value patient care across the ambulatory care continuum.

Reporting to the Executive Director Pharmacy, Clinical Ambulatory Operations, the Director of Pharmacy leads the development and execution of ambulatory pharmacy strategies that support owned entity ambulatory services, including CPPs, complex care models, and other chronic care functions, and designs ambulatory services that support organizational strategy priorities and future‑state care delivery models. Develop structures that enhance engagement with stakeholders beyond pharmacy and support integrated care delivery.

Responsibilities

1. Scope of Pharmacy Practice - Provides system leadership and oversight for the assigned pharmacy ambulatory services. Cultivates and maintains professional relationships with primary customers of the clinical area(s) including, but not limited to: medical directors, physicians, physician groups, patients, and external entities to foster opportunities for revenue enhancement, enhanced customer service and to positively impact core clinical measures. Ensures effective and efficient delivery, communication, and administration of all related programs.

Education Requirements

• PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment.

Professional Experience Requirements

• Seven years of pharmacist experience or equivalent, of which four years must be of pharmacy supervisory experience; proven management skills, including program planning and development, project management, finance, performance, quality and/or human resource management. PGY2 Health‑System Pharmacy Administration & Leadership (HSPAL) residency will count as relevant supervisory experience for Pharmacy leadership positions.
