Head Pastry Chef

Rising Above Bakery is a vibrant, mission-driven artisan bakery in Nyack, NY, built on community, inclusion, and craft. We're looking for an Executive Pastry Chef to lead our kitchen and help shape what we bake and how we grow.

What you'll do:

• Lead and oversee all kitchen production
• Plan menus and manage day-to-day production planning
• Develop new flavors, recipes, and seasonal offerings
• Teach, mentor, and support new and developing bakers with patience and care
• Lead one evening class per week
• Ensure precision, quality, and consistency across all products
• Manage inventory, ordering, and ingredient sourcing
• Adapt production and planning as the bakery grows and needs shift

What we're looking for:

• Minimum 3 years of professional bakery experience
• Familiarity with sourdough bread baking
• ServSafe certification (or equivalent food safety certification)
• Strong leadership skills — comfortable spearheading projects and leading a diverse team
• Excellent communication skills
• Precise, organized, and responsible
• Creative — enjoys developing new flavors and recipes with creative freedom
• Friendly, with a genuine mentorship mindset and enjoyment of teaching
• Adaptable — comfortable navigating change as we grow
• Passion for RAB's mission of community and inclusion

Schedule: 5 days a week, with occasional evening classes and optional weekend hours available by choice
Compensation: Based on experience
