Position Overview

This position offers a valuable opportunity for Registered Nurses to work flexible shifts within various medical and surgical units in a city in Hawaii. The role includes 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, scheduled for 36 hours per week following an initial week of orientation.

Licensure and Requirements

Candidates must hold an active state license for Hawaii by the start of the assignment. Medical and religious exemption requests will not be accepted without documented proof of immunity.

General Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse in this role will be responsible for:

Providing high-quality patient care across various units.
Working in medical, surgical, cardiovascular, and other specified units as needed.
Floats among units including the Medical Unit, Laulima (surgical acute) Unit, and occasionally the Cardiovascular Unit.

Required Skills and Experience

Ideal candidates will have:

2-10 years of nursing experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Preferred certifications include Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Procedural Sedation, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC).

Patient Care and Unit Details

The nurse-to-patient ratio in different units is as follows:

Medical Unit: 1:6 for day and evening shifts; 1:8 for night shifts.
Laulima Unit: 1:6.
Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4.

Equipment Used

The following equipment will be utilized within the department:

Meditech Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Pyxis medication management system
Wound Vac
Chest tubes

Orientation and Training

Orientation will be provided for each unit, ensuring that all staff is adequately prepared for their roles.

Professional Attire

All nurses are expected to wear professional nursing attire, specifically clean scrubs.

Important Details

Candidates must arrive the Thursday before their scheduled start date for an employee health appointment on Friday. Acceptance of the position implies availability for this appointment.

Work Schedule

This position involves rotating shifts with no guarantee of hours, providing an adaptable work environment.
