Estimator Position
A leading and well-established underground utility contractor in Central and Northern California is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing team. Known for quality work, strong partnerships, and a safety-first approach, this company is involved in a wide range of public and private civil infrastructure projects.
Position Summary
The Estimator will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for underground utility construction projects. This full-time position requires a detail-oriented and technically skilled professional who can collaborate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks as necessary
- Solicit, analyze, and negotiate quotes from vendors and subcontractors
- Prepare and submit complete bid proposals in a timely manner
- Work closely with project managers to ensure a smooth project transition
- Track bid outcomes and contribute to the refinement of estimating processes
Qualifications
- 5+ years of estimating experience in underground utility or civil construction
- Familiarity with public works projects preferred
- Proficient in interpreting construction plans and specifications
- Strong skills in Excel and estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid a plus)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-driven
