Open Position Sr. Project Engineer/Manager – Building Material Manufacturing Location Littleton, CO Scottsboro, Alabama Jacksonville, Florida Macon, Georgia Fernley, Nevada Milan, Ohio Hillsboro, Texas Compensation Salary: $135,000 to $140,000 Travel Requirements Heavy travel required (30%-60%) Ideal Candidate This division currently has over 200 active projects (between engineers and plant engineers) and will spend approximately $35M on capital this year. The projects / investments will continue to increase over the next five years. There are seven Division Engineers that handle projects across the fourteen plants. We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer role. This person will have experience managing projects from justification to completion including all budget management, contractor leadership and must have leadership experience and technical ability to successfully manage upcoming investments. Candidate should have 5 years of Project Engineering/Management/Leadership experience. Preferred salary range 135-140k with a 10% bonus. Projects could include new production lines, packaging lines, plant HVAC systems, dryer rebuilds. Relocation assistance approved for relocation to Littleton, Colorado. Otherwise, candidate should be within one hour drive of any of the listed locations. Job Details The Senior Project Engineer is accountable for all technical and commercial aspects of large and complex investment projects. Execution must be completed safely, timely, on budget and per the agreed scope and functionality. Responsible for equipment and work specifications; develops schedules, budgets and forecasts; selects materials, equipment, project resources, and contractors, and ensures all aspects of the design are reviewed technically and commercially for scope, safety, quality, and functionality. Leads a cross‑functional project team that typically consists of plant personnel, discipline engineers, procurement and external engineering contractors. Reports to the project steering team which reviews options and provides support and guidance at the various phases of the project. Requires proximity to a plant to support on‑site collaboration and operational needs. Your Day to Day Execute investment projects with a budget of $5M to $60M with medium/high complexity according to the CPP process. Develop, guide, review, and present project feasibility studies and business cases that accurately identify project benefits, risks, and returns. Estimate costs, resources, and time required to complete approved projects. Drive iteration of options to identify the most optimal technical solution. Ensure Lessons Learned are considered in design considerations. Provide project management and oversight for all phases for multiple concurrent projects. Review mechanical and/or electrical controls detail engineering for all project aspects; ensure compliance to technical specifications and contracts. Coordinate, review, provide oversight and manage external engineering resources and consultants as needed. Develop bid request documentation, supplier lists, bid evaluations, and make recommendations for purchasing. Design safe processes and specify safe equipment, ensuring ergonomics and safety hazards are addressed. Design and specify environmentally compliant equipment and processes, ensuring all permit requirements are considered. Prepare, review, deliver, and implement necessary training to maintenance and operations workforce. Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed, driving a zero‑incident project environment. Work with Engineering Leaders and Procurement to evaluate potential engineering firms and contractors. Maintain effective communication to management and project customers regarding project status, problems, and changes. Apply lean manufacturing concepts to all aspects of design and project execution. Prepare, organize, document, and archive project documentation. Drive a continuous lesson‑learn logbook through the project and analyze after completion. Communicate results in the engineering team to support continuous improvement. Work proactively with process engineers, production, and maintenance departments to solve process and equipment issues and identify improvement opportunities. Provide engineering input for improved automation and product packaging opportunities. Follow trends in technology and equipment design by visiting trade shows and key vendors. Coach and mentor project staff and assigned operations team, assisting them to solve problems and meet company, division and departmental objectives. May be required to perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical, electrical or mechanical) with a minimum of 5 years engineering experience in industrial or manufacturing industry. Strong project management skills with projects up to $25M. Leadership skills. Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong problem‑solving skills. High level of drive and initiative to complete assigned tasks and investigate improvement opportunities. Works with limited guidance, self‑directed both independently and in a team environment. Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally. Supervises/Leads individuals or a project team to achieve milestones and objectives by setting priorities and providing direction; will provide feedback for performance evaluations. Experience managing contractors and subcontractors, including bid process. Experience preparing estimates, schedules, and project deliverables. Proven ability to negotiate and manage change. Solid knowledge in contract design and legal requirements. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Proficient in project scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera). Exposure to SAP systems a plus. Heavy travel required (30%-60%). Work environment typical of a manufacturing facility: may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gases/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc. Application Process Include MS Word resume.
