Building Envelope - Outside Sales

Position Summary The primary function of the Outside Sales position is to be responsible for all sales activities from lead generation through close in an assigned territory. This person will develop and implement the agreed upon Company Marketing Plan and work toward the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long‑term account goals in line with branch vision and values. Training will be given in product knowledge of building materials including drywall, insulation, metal studs for drywall, ceiling systems, construction tools, construction safety items, drywall compound, and accessories for the drywall industry. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for all steps of the sales process, including preparing action plans by accounts and product line, effective search and follow‑through of sales leads and new customers. Identify and execute on opportunities for up‑sell and cross‑sell and establish rapport with customers, building long‑term repeat relationships. Be proficient in product knowledge to assist customers in buying decisions and provide timely and accurate competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications. Maintain accurate records of sales activity, sales, and pricing; gather competitive market and pricing information. Basic Qualifications Strong Microsoft Office skills. Ability to self‑manage; extensive experience in supplier relationship management. Knowledge of building materials and the construction industry strongly preferred; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience with Excel preferred; 3–5 years of sales experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to work independently and on a team; lead, execute, and delegate as needed, while collaborating with others. Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing to coworkers and customers. Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 70% of the time and occasionally move about to access files or machinery. Must be able to operate basic office machinery and communicate with team and management. Required Cognitive Skills Problem‑solve and prioritize tasks. Manage stress under deadlines and ongoing projects. Multitask effectively. Receive and analyze sales and financial information. Communicate solutions quickly when problems occur. Demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
