Richmond Community Services (RCS) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Behavior Specialist to join an embedded behavioral services team supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across residential and day habilitation programs in Westchester County, NY. In this hands-on role, you will provide person-centered behavioral support for routine, complex, high-risk, and communication-related behaviors; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams; and help individuals build skills, independence, and quality of life. The position includes local travel between program sites and opportunities for leadership development.
Responsibilities
- Conduct behavioral assessments and support Functional Behavior Assessments.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Behavior Support Plans.
- Collect and analyze behavioral data to identify trends and guide interventions.
- Observe programs and provide hands-on behavioral consultation.
- Monitor progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
- Coach and train staff in consistent implementation of behavioral strategies.
- Collaborate with direct support professionals, nurses, managers, clinicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Support teams in responding effectively to routine, complex, high-risk, and communication-related behaviors.
- Participate in person-centered planning meetings and interdisciplinary reviews.
- Support regulatory compliance and quality improvement initiatives related to behavioral services.
- Promote Positive Behavioral Supports and evidence-based, person-centered practices.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of experience in behavioral intervention.
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Supports and person-centered planning.
- Experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments.
- Experience developing and monitoring Behavior Support Plans.
- Experience with behavioral data analysis and clinical documentation.
- Experience training or coaching staff.
- Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration.
