Job Description

Job Title: Wire Harness Fabricator Job Description

The Wire Harness Fabricator builds and installs custom wire harnesses for aircraft, working from engineering drawings and schematics. This role involves hands-on fabrication, routing, testing, and documentation to ensure each harness meets stringent aerospace standards and supports safe, reliable aircraft operation.

Responsibilities
  • Build custom wire harnesses by cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, splicing, and terminating wires in accordance with wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Assemble and prepare cables and wire harnesses, ensuring accurate termination and secure connections for aerospace and aviation applications.
  • Route and secure wire harnesses within aircraft structures, following aerospace standards and best practices for harness routing and installation.
  • Work directly on aircraft rather than solely at a bench, installing harnesses in operational environments and adapting to aircraft configurations.
  • Perform continuity and insulation resistance tests to verify harness integrity, functionality, and compliance with quality requirements.
  • Use specialized tools and equipment for harness fabrication, including appropriate connectors, crimping tools, soldering equipment, and PCB rework stations when required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including inspection reports, configuration logs, and any changes or deviations from original drawings.
  • Interpret and follow wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings to ensure correct harness layout, routing, and termination.
  • Participate in in-person practical assessments and interviews, demonstrating technical skills and problem-solving abilities in a hands-on environment.
  • Ask clarifying questions and actively seek feedback to support continuous learning and development into more advanced avionics installation and technician responsibilities.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 3+ years of wire harness construction experience, including routing, termination, and splicing.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong technical proficiency in cable and wire harness assembly and termination for aerospace or aviation applications.
  • Background in aerospace or aviation environments is required.
  • Comfort and willingness to work directly on aircraft rather than exclusively on a bench.
  • High attention to detail and precision in wire preparation, routing, and termination to prevent errors that could impact aircraft safety.
  • Capability to perform continuity and insulation resistance tests to verify harness integrity and performance.
  • Ability to use specialized tools and machinery for harness fabrication, including connectors, crimp tools, soldering equipment, and PCB rework stations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in avionics or aircraft electrical systems is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated openness to learning and professional development, with a strong desire to grow into avionics installer or technician roles.
  • Ability to ask thoughtful questions, seek clarification, and collaborate with others to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Comfort participating in in-person practical assessments and interviews that may last 3–6 hours and potentially occur over two days.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing aircraft configurations and engineering requirements.
Why Work Here?

You join a long-term, stable opportunity in a supportive and collaborative work environment that values hands-on craftsmanship and technical growth. The role offers a clear development path from wire harness fabrication into avionics installation and technician positions, providing meaningful career progression. You benefit from competitive compensation, the chance to work on sophisticated aircraft platforms, and a culture that encourages asking questions, continuous learning, and skill advancement.

Work Environment

This is a day-shift role, working Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Work is performed primarily on aircraft, requiring comfort with an active hangar or shop environment and hands-on installation rather than purely bench-based work. The setting involves regular use of specialized electrical and fabrication tools, adherence to aerospace standards, and collaboration with other technical personnel in a structured, safety-focused facility.
