Coding Specialist III

Job Details

Responsible for all aspects of coding, provider education, practice improvement, quality assurance and compliance with Federal payer documentation guidelines. Works closely with departmental management and Sr. Director of Education & Training in the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians, and coordinates with Clinical Practice Association, Office of Billing Quality Assurance, and JHM Compliance to include review of documentation and revenue cycle performance improvement. Serves as OJHP expert on coding questions. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on a regular basis. Responsible for developing coding and billing change procedures. Responsible for training on all coding and billing changes.

Approved Remote Locations: Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Required Licensure, Certification, and On-going Training: CPC certification required. Risk Adjustment Certification preferred. Sub specialty coding certification or second AAPC certification in any area of expertise. (Internal Candidates only - when a sub specialty coding certification or second AAPC certification is not available in clinical specialization, additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of second certification at the discretion of department management.)

Work Experience: Minimum five (5) years coding experience with demonstrated analytical skills. Experience with Medicare regulations. Understanding of third party payer issues. Preferred EPIC experience.

Salary Range: $26.51/hour - $43.76/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
