Radiologic Technologist I, II, III (2471) - Citywide - H00049 San Francisco Department of Public Health 236 subscribers Radiologic Technologist performs essential functions including general diagnostic procedures, application of radiation safety principles, patient assessment, documentation, patient transport, scheduling, venipuncture, CPR, staff training, quality improvement, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with physicians. Essential Functions Level I: Performs general diagnostic procedures using fixed or portable, general, digital, fluoroscopic or other diagnostic equipment; lifts and carries cassettes to and from imaging equipment; manipulates and manages images; positions patients and selects technical factors based on knowledge of radiologic science, specific equipment and patient assessment. Applies principles of radiation safety in compliance with federal, state and departmental standards; uses appropriate filters, cones, protective clothing and devices to obtain high-quality images with radiation exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable to patients, others and self; wears and exchanges radiation monitoring devices. Assesses general patient condition, including stability, pain and safety, and as necessary takes action consistent with standards; monitors medical equipment and promptly adjusts or reports problems; observes and documents patient physical and procedural restraints. Documents procedures and events in the patient's medical record and departmental logs, in accordance with regulatory, hospital and departmental standards; identifies images and documents with patient, technologist, date/time and laterality information. Transports patients using gurneys, wheelchairs and beds; transfers patients to and from the exam table. Schedules procedures and patients, transfers paper orders into an electronic order entry system; produces, processes and collates images and paperwork, and submits them for interpretation; receives and assists patients and other customers; answers departmental telephones; may be assigned to coordinate patient flow. Performs venipuncture and CPR; assists physicians in preparing and/or administrating contrast media, setting up sterile and non-sterile trays, and providing instruments, medical devices and supplies as requested. Trains student technologists in the science and practice of diagnostic imaging. Participates in departmental Quality Improvement efforts. Cleans imaging equipment, supplies and procedure rooms; reports failures and problems. Maintains patient medical records and date integrity using Radiology and hospital IT systems. Assists physicians and providers in resolving imaging questions or issues. Level II: Performs diagnostic imaging procedures in an advanced modality. Level III: Performs diagnostic imaging procedures in at least two (2) advanced modalities. The 2471 Radiologic Technologist performs other related duties as assigned/required. How to Qualify Minimum Qualifications (Required)
LEVEL I:
License & Certification: Possession of a current license issued by the State of California as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) [License status must be current according to ] AND Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) [Registration status must be current according to ] AND Must obtain a valid permit to use Fluoroscopy equipment issued by the California Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health Branch within six (6) months of appointment. Possession of valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate issued by the American Heart Association.LEVEL II:
Experience: One (1) year of experience working as a Radiologic Technologist; AND License & Certification: Possession of a current license issued by the State of California as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) [License status must be current according to ] AND Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) [Registration status must be current according to ] AND ARRT certification in at least one advanced modality: (e.g. Mammography (MM), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Quality Management (QM), Bone Densitometry (BD), Cardiac-Interventional (CI), or Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI)); AND Possession of valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate issued by the American Heart Association [Certification status must be current according to ] AND Possession of a valid permit to use Fluoroscopy issued by California Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health BranchLEVEL III:
Experience: Three (3) years of experience working as a Radiologic Technologist; AND License & Certification: Possession of a current license issued by the State of California as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) [License status must be current according to ] AND Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) [Registration status must be current according to ] AND ARRT certification in at least two (2) advanced modalities (e.g. Mammography (MM), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Quality Management (QM), Bone Densitometry (BD), Cardiac-Interventional (CI) or Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI); AND Possession of valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate issued by the American Heart Association [Certification status must be current according to ] AND Possession of a valid permit to use Fluoroscopy issued by California Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health Branch One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Note Note that the duties listed above are cumulative. For example, Level III incumbents may be directed to perform any of the duties described in Level I and II.
