Overview:
As an Automation Specialist II, you’ll be at the forefront of commissioning, programming, and supporting automation systems that power vital energy infrastructure. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects meet safety, quality, and industry standards while gaining meaningful experience in a fast-paced, field-focused environment. This role offers a collaborative culture, hands-on work, and a rotation schedule that complements your lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead automation system commissioning for new and existing facilities, ensuring systems are installed and configured per engineered designs and standards.
  • Validate automation designs, equipment, and system configurations during construction and startup phases.
  • Program, test, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, EFMs, and related instrumentation—building your expertise with industry-leading control systems.
  • Perform loop checks, functional tests, and startup activities, bringing facilities online smoothly and safely.
  • Interpret and update design documentation such as P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control documentation to support accurate project execution.
  • Enforce change management and participate in safety review processes to uphold operational safety and compliance.
  • Provide technical support and training to field personnel, troubleshooting process control and instrumentation issues in real-world environments.
  • Maintain all automation documentation, ensuring it reflects the as-built configuration and adheres to company standards.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of oil & gas automation, instrumentation, or controls experience.
  • Knowledge of automation system design and process equipment.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, EFMs (Allen-Bradley, Totalflow, ROC, etc.).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in field conditions, with a valid driver’s license and a clean record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with MOC and PSSR processes, design reviews, and hazard assessments.
  • Experience with automation host systems and industrial control networks.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic instrumentation calibration and maintenance.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Target pay of $45.00/hour
  • Rotational schedule: 14 days on, 14 days off, with man camp available for housing.
  • Duration: 12+ months
