Surgical First Assistant - FT Days

Your job is more than a job. The Surgical First Assistant provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. In addition, performs preoperative and post-operative duties to better facilitate proper patient care. Performs these functions during the operation under direction and supervision, and in accordance with LCMC policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations. Responsibilities Assist with positioning the patient and providing visualization of the operative site. Utilize appropriate techniques to assist with closure of body planes. Select and apply appropriate wound dressings and assist with securing drainage systems to tissue. Participate in volume replacement or auto‑transfusion techniques as appropriate. Work and act as a team player in support of the department and hospital's strategic goals. Minimum Qualifications 5‑7 years of supervised experience in surgery and institutional training in the field of surgical technology. Diploma or degree from an accredited Surgical First Assist program. Valid license as an RN, LPN or PA if applicable. Certification through the National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA) or Surgical Assistant‑Certified (SA‑C) through the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA).
