Primary Location Austin, Texas Employee Status Regular Salary (Pay Basis) $3,793.42 - $4,599.00 per month Number of Openings 1 Travel Requirement Yes, up to 5% of the time Essential Job Functions Processes and deposits agency revenue in a timely manner. Prepares and enters deposits and journal entries in the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS), Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS), Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company (Trust), and Texas Water Information System Expansion (TxWise). Prepares monthly reconciliation activities. Reviews various journals for discrepancies. Sets up vendors in the Texas Identification Number System (TINS) and CAPPS. Serves as backup and provides assistance to other revenue accountants. Prepares entries and documents for routine transactions. Complies with established procedures as set forth in the Financial Operations Division. Researches items upon request. Monitors aged receivables accounts and other pending items. Coordinates coverage of functions related to individual job responsibilities prior to requesting time off. Participates in independent job‑related research and demonstrates initiative when seeking solutions to issues. Composes procedures for tasks and responsibilities. Maintains confidential and sensitive information. Ensures individual and team files (electronic and hard versions) are appropriately maintained and timely disposed of in accordance with agency records‑retention procedures. Maintains required certifications and licenses and meets continuing‑education requirements. Operates a state or personal vehicle for business purposes as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. One year of relevant accounting and financial operations experience. Relevant education and experience can be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. Preferred Qualifications Previous Texas state government accounting experience. Experience in accounts payable/receivable. Knowledge of CAPPS Financials, USAS, or other fund accounting software. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the Financial Operations Division. Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Board (GAB) requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Access. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work accurately and independently in a high‑volume setting. Problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to adapt to changing scope and environment. Ability to train others and perform routine and non‑routine work assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license. Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time within Texas. Availability to work shifts that may exceed 8 hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.
