Location: Middletown, CT
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Start Date: Early to Mid August (ASAP)

No Weekends | No On-Call

Job Overview

We are seeking two compassionate and experienced Psychiatrist to join the clinical team at Connecticut's Whiting Forensic Hospital , a state-operated forensic psychiatric hospital in Middletown, CT. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality psychiatric and medical care to individuals with complex mental health needs, many of whom are involved with the state's legal system.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about behavioral health, patient advocacy, and making a meaningful impact in a structured and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to patients in a forensic psychiatric setting.
• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and behavioral changes.
• Administer medications and treatments
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Respond appropriately to psychiatric and medical emergencies.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records.
• Ensure compliance with all hospital, state, and regulatory standards.
• Foster a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Connecticut or compact license if applicable).
• Current BLS certification.
• Experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, forensic, correctional, or acute care nursing preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Experience managing patients with severe mental illness is highly desirable.
