Production Operator (Rewind Operator)This role is a hands-on production position focused on operating rewind machines to wind finished electrical cable onto spools after the extrusion and coating process. You ensure proper tension, alignment, and quality standards are consistently met while supporting high-speed manufacturing operations in a fast-paced environment. The position is ideal for someone with prior machine operation experience who is dependable, mechanically inclined, and committed to precision and consistency.ResponsibilitiesOperate rewind machines and high-speed slitting-style equipment to wind finished cable onto appropriate spools according to production requirements.Safely load and unload large cable spools, using proper techniques to protect both product and equipment.Monitor line speed, tension, and alignment throughout the rewinding process to ensure proper winding and consistent product quality.Inspect cable for defects and verify that all quality standards and specifications are met before moving product to the next stage.Make basic machine adjustments as needed to maintain optimal production efficiency and minimize downtime.Follow daily production schedules, meet established output targets, and maintain accurate documentation of completed work.Accurately label, wrap, and prepare finished product for subsequent processing or shipment, including roll wrapping as required.Use hand and power tools safely and effectively as part of machine operation and basic equipment handling.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all facility safety guidelines and housekeeping standards.Handle large spools and perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus, consistency, and attention to detail.Essential SkillsPrevious production experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Prior machine operation or machine operating experience, preferably with high-speed equipment.Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues during production.Strong attention to detail and a clear commitment to maintaining high quality standards.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, production schedules, and standard operating procedures.Comfort working with hand and power tools in a production setting.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed and safely handle large cable spools.Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.Reliability and dependability in meeting shift schedules and production expectations.Additional Skills & QualificationsManufacturing or industrial production background preferred.Experience with general labor, general production, or cleanroom manufacturing environments is beneficial.Familiarity with roll wrapping processes and packaging of finished product is a plus.Experience working with high-speed equipment, such as slitting or rewind machines, is advantageous.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where product moves at high line speeds.Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and grow into leadership opportunities over time.Why Work Here?You join a stable, long-term operation that offers a clear path from contract to hire, with many employees enjoying average tenures of 15 or more years. Wire starts on large spools and runs through machines at speeds of approximately 1,2001,500 feet per minute, passing through an extrusion process where it is coated with various materials, colors, and thicknesses to meet customer specifications. Following extrusion and coating, the product moves through roll wrapping and rewinding stages to ensure it is properly packaged and prepared for shipment. You work on 2nd or 3rd shift, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, in an environment that requires standing for long periods, handling large spools, and working around moving machinery and production equipment. The facility emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, and you are expected to follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing floor.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bensenville, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
