Summer Custodial Assistant

Job Summary

The Summer Custodial Assistant at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church supports the maintenance and cleanliness of parish and school facilities during the summer months. This role helps ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, parishioners, and visitors while supporting the overall mission of the parish community.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist with cleaning and maintaining parish and school buildings, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas
• Perform routine custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal
• Support floor care, including waxing, buffing, and deep cleaning as needed
• Assist with setup and breakdown of rooms and spaces for parish and school events
• Perform minor maintenance tasks and report repair needs to supervisory staff
• Help maintain outdoor areas, including light groundskeeping as assigned
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines for cleaning equipment and materials
• Ensure facilities are secure and properly maintained during summer operations
• Work collaboratively with maintenance and parish staff to complete assigned projects

Job Qualifications:

• High school diploma or currently enrolled in high school preferred
• Previous custodial, maintenance, or related experience preferred
• Ability to follow directions and complete tasks independently
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and perform manual labor tasks
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work a consistent schedule
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and supervisors
• Commitment to supporting a Catholic parish environment
