Dietitian | Facility Program Lead & Nutrition Therapy

Dietitians in this assignment serve as a Facility Program Coordinator, leading a multidisciplinary team. They are administratively responsible for a specialty program and provide program‑specific leadership, guidance, direction, technical advice, and staff development. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements United States citizenship. Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) – must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). May qualify based on the Grandfathering Provision described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (applicable only to current VHA employees who meet the criteria). Grade Determinations GS‑12: Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of program administration—establishing goals, coordinating activities, evaluating accomplishments, and solving problems. Skill in developing quality improvement or research activities. Skill in developing training and reference materials. Ability to develop policies and procedures. Ability to provide program‑specific coordination, including leadership, technical advice, and staff development. Assignment: For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher‑level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity, and variety and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS‑12. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS‑12. Responsibilities Lead multidisciplinary team as Facility Program Coordinator. Provide direct patient care through comprehensive nutrition therapy within scope of clinical privileges. Administratively manage a specialty program—including program administration, policy and procedure development, goal setting, and priority redefinition. Serve as fiscal steward for the program. Design and participate in research activities or quality‑improvement studies, including data collection and analysis. Develop and maintain training and reference materials. Maintain program information through approved social media outlets. Supervise up to two employees. Preferred Experience Experience with Computrition Hospitality Suite servicing multiple schemas.
