Psychiatrist Position

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• The psychiatrist will perform evaluations, diagnosis(es), treatments, medication management and preventions of mental health disorders.
• Perform comprehensive examinations and assessments, determining diagnosis(es), and completing medical work-ups, including admissions and discharges.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, referring to other specialties or appropriate community resources.
• Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team and collaborates with providers across the Medical Center.
• Provide appropriate clinical documentation of patient care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) in a timely manner. Training regarding the use of CPRS will be provided by the VAMC. All documentation shall be completed in accordance with VA policy and procedures.
• Ensure accreditation requirements are met for all applicable survey and inspection processes to include, but are not limited to compliance with JCHACO, CARF, and OIG.
• Follow all VA guidelines regarding infection control and safety.
• Adhere to all quality performance measures.
• Provide examinations/reviews as assigned to support Mental Health services.
• Collaborate with contracted community Mental Health programs to assist/coordinate discharge planning, medication and follow-up appointments and continue of care.
• May participate in supervision of residents and medical students assigned to mental health programs.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, with rotating on-call and weekend rounding requirements.
