Job Summary

The CP-2 Certified Technician performs advanced field testing of corrosion control systems on underground and submerged metallic structures. Recommend and perform troubleshooting tests and identify when such testing is required. Work with engineering to determine design solutions. Must be open to travel/75-80% of time/weekdays, NO weekends.

Core Responsibilities

• Work independently, make field decisions without direct supervision and be responsible for obtaining field data to determine condition of structures under evaluation.
• Compile and submit field data for senior staff review.
• Be familiar with standard survey and construction practices for corrosion control projects.
• Estimate duration for both engineering and construction projects.
• Organize and perform multiple small to medium sized projects simultaneously.
• Develop test procedures for complex troubleshooting.
• Evaluate field data and prepare draft reports for the area supervisor.
• Perform field design testing for cathodic protection solutions.
• Work with engineering to design cathodic protection systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Have a current certification with AMPP (formerly NACE International) as a Cathodic Protection Technician CP-2 Certification.
• 3-5 years (minimum) experience in corrosion control industry particularly related to cathodic protection work.
• Government contracts require U.S. Citizenship.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as interact with team members, clients and management staff.
• Ability/willingness to travel as required for the job.
• Clean driving record and ability to operate a company vehicle.

This position may require significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 60 pounds, and, in general, being overall physically demanding. It may also require work in an all-weather environment.

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
