Research Technician II - Ophthalmology

Position Details Scheduled hours: 40 hours per week. Position summary: The Yoshimatsu Lab seeks a Research Technician II to assist with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials. The appointee will work on functional development and regeneration of the vertebrate visual system using zebrafish and lizards, and on elucidating how disruptions in developmental mechanisms lead to visual dysfunction. Application review will begin on June 6th. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Assist with research studies, experiments, and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions, setup, and maintenance of equipment. Perform data entry and maintain research data files. Prepare tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, and related materials. Comply with established safety procedures and maintain documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. Ensure laboratory conditions and equipment are cleaned and maintained according to established procedures. Assist with general laboratory maintenance and cleaning. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions The position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and/or experience. No specific certifications or professional licenses are required. No specific work experience is required. Preferred Qualifications Up to one year of laboratory experience. Strong communication skills and ability to prepare detailed reports. Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, laboratory research, software programs, and ability to work independently. Salary & Benefits Salary: $16.92 – $26.44 per hour, grade R06‑H.
