Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health opened its doors April 2025 as the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 25 years! Integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8, this enhanced integrated delivery system will establish a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. Our advanced hospital will offer 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, onsite 550-car parking garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are seeking an experienced Special Procedures Technician - Interventional Radiology (Part-Time, Days). Our ideal candidate plays a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality, image-guided care. This individual assists the care team in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by operating advanced imaging equipment, positioning patients appropriately, and preparing instruments and sterile fields. The technologist supports a wide range of procedures including angiography, angioplasty, biopsies, and other interventional radiology techniques, ensuring precision, efficiency, and optimal patient outcomes. A strong commitment to patient safety, radiation protection, and adherence to clinical and regulatory standards is essential. Success in this role requires technical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced procedural environment.

Job Duties:

• Prepares procedure rooms, ensuring all equipment, supplies, and sterile instruments are available and functioning properly
• Assists physicians and interventional radiologists during minimally invasive, image-guided procedures
• Operates fluoroscopy and other advanced imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
• Positions patients accurately to optimize imaging results while ensuring comfort and safety
• Maintains sterile technique and assists with the setup and breakdown of sterile fields
• Monitors patients during procedures, including vital signs and overall condition, and reports changes promptly
• Administers contrast media and medications as directed, in accordance with hospital policy and scope of practice
• Ensures compliance with radiation safety standards, including proper shielding and dose minimization techniques
• Documents procedures, patient information, and imaging results accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care
• Prepares and transports patients to and from procedures, providing education and reassurance as needed
• Maintains and troubleshoots imaging equipment, reporting any malfunctions or service needs
• Participates in on-call rotations and responds to emergency procedures as required
• Adheres to all regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention standards
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and maintains required certifications and continuing education

Qualifications Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
• ARRT (R) certification required
• Advanced certification preferred: ARRT (VI) or Cardiovascular Interventional (CI)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Interventional Radiology, Special Procedures, or Cath Lab required
• Experience assisting with image-guided procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, stent placement, and biopsies
• Proficiency in operating fluoroscopy and advanced imaging equipment
• Experience with moderate sedation procedures preferred
