Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport within the facility as prescribed by a physician. This role involves evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and offering education to patients and caregivers upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Administer physician-prescribed treatments and operate various ventilatory equipment, oxygen devices, and nebulizers.
• Evaluate patient conditions and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Conduct chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance.
• Perform suctioning by various methods including oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy.
• Interpret and review patient chest x-rays for further evaluation.
• Perform and recognize basic arrhythmias from 12-lead EKGs.
• Assist with procedures related to respiratory care including bronchoscopy and trach placements.
• Manage tracheostomy care, including tube insertion/removal when indicated.
• Conduct arterial punctures and analyze ventilation efficiency.
• Document all treatments and patient responses accurately in medical records.
• Communicate treatment efficacy with relevant medical personnel.
• Adhere to all safety and procedural guidelines for equipment management.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Valid Respiratory Therapy license and relevant certifications are required. Experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
