Program Overview Johns Hopkins Speech Language Pathology Acute Care Clinical Fellowship Program is a full‑time, paid clinical fellowship lasting 12 months. The program provides a supportive and challenging learning environment that fosters the growth of clinical fellows into experts in medical speech pathology. It is an intensive, dynamic learning experience where fellows apply didactic knowledge to clinical practice with adult patients who have a range of medical and surgical conditions in an acute care hospital setting. Program Details Duration : 12 months Accreditation : ASHA accredited Start Date : August of the application year Application Period : January1– March1, 2026 Location : Johns Hopkins Hospital, Maryland Responsibilities Clinical Fellows will participate actively in learning to apply didactic information to clinical practice, evaluate and treat patients with medical communication and swallowing disorders, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary health‑care team. Fellows are expected to: Assess and manage adult patients with a range of acute clinical conditions. Apply evidence‑based practice to develop treatment plans. Communicate effectively with care teams and patients. Engage in self‑evaluation and pursue continuing skill development. Maintain ethical, responsible, and professional conduct. Qualifications Eligible for a limited license in the State of Maryland. Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with evidence‑based decision making. Motivation to achieve advanced clinical competency in prevention, screening, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of medical communication and swallowing disorders. Strong written and verbal communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration. Commitment to self‑evaluation and ongoing professional development.
