Part-time Director of Tax | $80-$150/hr | Contract-to-Hire | Remote (Nationwide) / San Diego Preferred Our client is looking for a Director of Tax to lead and build a scalable tax function within a growing organization. This position will oversee tax compliance, reporting, planning, and process improvement efforts while serving as a key partner to finance leadership. You will support core operations by ensuring accurate tax reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective risk management. Who You Are:
- 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience with a strong foundation in federal and state income tax matters
- Experience preparing or overseeing ASC 740 tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and related financial reporting requirements
- Knowledge of multi-state tax compliance, indirect tax considerations, and jurisdictional reporting requirements
- Familiarity with international tax concepts, cross-border compliance matters, and working with external advisors
- CPA, MST, or related accounting/tax credentials preferred
- Experience supporting ERP implementations, process improvements, and internal control development is a plus
- Lead corporate tax compliance activities across federal, state, and international jurisdictions
- Oversee tax provision calculations, reporting requirements, and support external audits and examinations
- Partner with finance and accounting teams to improve forecasting, reporting accuracy, and tax-related analytics
- Manage relationships with outside tax consultants and service providers
- Identify opportunities for tax efficiencies, credits, incentives, and risk mitigation strategies
- Develop scalable policies, procedures, and controls to support business growth and regulatory compliance
- Support system enhancements and process automation initiatives related to tax reporting and compliance
