General Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse I works as a team member with other ancillary personnel under the direction of the registered professional nurse to meet technical care needs for a specified population of patients. These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, in accordance with the mission, values and behaviors of Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and guests. Duties and Responsibilities: Delivers patient-centered nursing care in accordance with standards of care defined by Insight Applies excellent telephonic customer service skills Acquires and maintains current knowledge in nursing practice and education Ensures proper utilization of hospital resources and level of care Assesses relevant clinical and age-related information (all ages) to assist in timely appropriate bed assignments Intervenes to resolve system problems that delay delivery of patient care Considers safety and cost effectiveness when delivering patient care Decisions and actions on behalf of patients are determined in an ethical manner Participates in the improvement of operational functions of the department Establishes and maintains effective and respectful communication in development of all collaborative relationships Evaluates and participates in opportunities for outstanding service to all customers and accepts responsibility in partnership that is equally respectful to everyone Ability to utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify, interpret, and access appropriate resources in patient specific scenario(s) Integrates results of performance improvement activities to improve patient outcomes, utilization of hospital resources and length of stay Coordinates special bed requests Collaborate with physicians, and other hospital personnel as necessary to provide quality patient care & expedite throughput Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required Current LPN license as a practical nurse in the State of Illinois required Current ACLS and Basic Life Support certifications Ability to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patients Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties Health, vision & dental benefits - eligible at 30 days, following the 1st of the following month Short and long-term disability and basic life insurance - after 30 days of employment Insight Employees are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment, subject to accommodation for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
