Summary of Position

As a Maintenance Tech l at The Maybourne Beverly Hills, you will serve as a senior member of our maintenance team, contributing your extensive expertise to maintain the highest standard of our hotel’s facilities, systems, and equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

1. Inspect, repair, modify and install HVAC equipment including refrigeration and air-conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers, water cooling towers, forced air converter units, pumps, automatic and hand valves, expansion valves and capillary tubes.
2. Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated heating and ventilating units, including boilers, gas and electrically operated air-conditioning equipment, and make necessary adjustments or repairs; service and repair evaporative coolers.
3. Repair or replace defective parts in units and equipment and their controls, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, controls, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, high limit controls, pressure controls, safety valves, and automatic gas valves.
4. Operate a variety of hand and power tools, welder torch, vacuum pump, test equipment utilized in the trade and a motor vehicle; maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition; maintain parts and tool inventory.
5. Repair and rebuild semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors and compressors for centrifugal refrigeration machines.
6. Perform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems as needed; connect motors to control panels.
7. Lubricate and pack heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air-conditioning motors, pumps, fans, and other equipment.
8. Install and calibrate systems; install copper tubing and repair pipes and tubing as necessary; test joints and insulate pipes of refrigeration and air conditioning systems; flush boilers, descale tubing; rebuild pressure and temperature safety valves and water pumps.
9. Install, rebuild, replace or repair fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets and other equipment as necessary.
10. Maintain related records concerning time, labor and materials; maintain log of tasks performed and write reports as required.
11. Complies with all OSHA, ADA, and other safety and security policies
12. Report to work on time, in proper clean uniform

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. At least 5-7 years of experience in building maintenance; hotel maintenance preferred.
2. High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical school or trade school certification is a plus.
3. EPA Universal license HVAC, CPO issued by Los Angels County, Stem Boiler Unlimited or 500 is a plus. Strong knowledge of maintenance procedures, equipment, and systems.
4. Commercial refrigeration equipment repair experience
5. Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
6. Flexibility to work weekends, and holidays as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The ability to lift and carry objects, tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to or around 100lbs is required. This may include moving furniture, appliances, and maintenance materials.
• The position may involve extended periods of standing, walking, and moving about the hotel property. Technicians may be required to traverse various areas, including guest rooms, corridors, and outdoor spaces.
• Technicians should be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to access and repair equipment, fixtures, and systems located at different heights and angles.
• Technicians must have the ability to reach and stretch to access equipment and systems, including those located above shoulder height or in confined spaces.
• Proficiency in the safe and effective use of maintenance tools and equipment, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, power tools, and test instruments, is essential.
• Depending on the specific maintenance task, technicians may be required to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding to access elevated areas within the hotel.
• The ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills and precise hand-eye coordination, such as repairing small components or handling wiring, is important.
