Claims Manager, D&O

Claims Manager, Directors & Officers (D&O) Liability Starr, a global leader in commercial insurance with over a century of expertise, is seeking a Claims Manager for Directors & Officers (D&O) Liability to actively manage D&O and other Financial Lines (FLPL) claims within the Financial and Professional Lines Claims Group. Location Preferred: New York. Alternate: Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, or San Francisco. Essential Job Functions Active management of D&O and other FLPL claims. Evaluate coverage and draft coverage correspondence. Undertake claims investigations and manage defense counsel and legal spend. Assess liability and financial exposure. Negotiate cost-effective, good‑faith claims resolutions. Requirements Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor preferred. 5+ years of experience in the insurance/legal profession dealing specifically with FLPL claims. Experience handling primary private and non‑profit D&O, fiduciary liability (ERISA), and fidelity claims preferred; carrier experience a plus. In‑depth understanding of policy language/coverage. Experience managing, evaluating, mediating, and negotiating FLPL claims. In‑depth knowledge of the U.S. legal system, civil litigation, and ADR proceedings. Comprehensive understanding of federal and state laws applicable to various claims presented under FLPL policies. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Compensation Compensation range: $170,000 – $190,000 (including skill sets, experience, licensure, and organizational needs).
