RN - Acute Surgery Services

As a Registered Nurse in Surgery Services, you will collaborate closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and surgical staff to support patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. Your expertise in sterile techniques and use of technical equipment will be essential in delivering safe, high-quality care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established patient safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain an optimal care environment.
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care such as medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education, all within established policies and procedures.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and provide accurate information to the healthcare team.
• Document patient care activities and quality monitoring data accurately to support compliance with core quality measures.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, team members, patients, and families to improve outcomes and enhance the patient experience.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability among staff.
• Adapt positively to the dynamic healthcare environment, supporting organizational mission and values.
• Incorporate critical thinking into nursing practice and pursue ongoing professional development opportunities.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of acute care nursing experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in a Compact State or the state of Missouri.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Mental and Physical Demands

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, as well as occasional encounters with hostile individuals, may occur. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
