Job Title: Staff Nurse Emergency Department Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 years current experience working in an emergency department, including previous traveler experience with knowledge in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric care. License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: Collaboration, communication (verbal and written), judgment, critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning, problem-solving, quality, reliability, safety, and risk management. Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. The role includes the prevention of illness and injury and alleviation of suffering through diagnosis and treatment. Advocacy in the care of individuals and families is a key responsibility of the RN. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. This is in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, policies, and guidelines. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care. This includes managing a group of patients and serving as a primary or accountable nurse when designated. The RN educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources. A working knowledge of pharmacology is utilized, and medications are administered safely according to established policy. The RN shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing and time management. Compliance with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies is essential. Active participation in professional development and continuing nursing education is required. Engagement in nursing research and current evidence into practice is expected. The RN provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. Duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role may be assigned. Additional responsibilities may be assumed as needed.
