Area Safety Manager

Job Summary Airgas is seeking an Area Safety Manager to manage safety and compliance across 26 locations in Mid‑America, covering the Louisville, Evansville, Nashville, and nearby plants. This role leads safety programs, audits, and regulatory compliance, ensuring OSHA and other regulations are met. The position requires 70‑80% travel, mainly day trips. Key Responsibilities Promote and develop safe work behaviors, coaching associates to reduce injuries and vehicle accidents. Plan, administer, and support ongoing safety programs and compliance. Act as liaison between facilities and internal/external auditors. Interpret safety policies, regulations, and standards to provide direction. Maintain up‑to‑date documentation on DOT, OSHA, EPA, and FDA regulations. Conduct internal audits across all disciplines and report findings for corrective actions. Plan industrial health and ergonomic risk assessment surveys. Ensure all locations complete required training. Assist Regional Safety Director with monthly safety meetings, data presentations, and compliance presentations. Develop training materials (videos, Google Slides) and maintain permits and location files. Participate in hazardous material operations, such as AERO, PSM, and RMP. Perform other duties as assigned, including state medical registrations, TierII reporting, and accident investigations. Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. At least three years of relevant experience. Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle with insurance. Availability to be “oncall” 24/7 for emergencies. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree. Working knowledge of safety and OSHA regulations. Industrial gas experience.
