Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for an Orthopedics unit requiring 2 years of med surg/postoperative experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a Level 1 Trauma orthopedic unit (43 all-private-bed capacity)
• Patient population includes med surg, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma fracture cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights (12-hour shifts)
• PCT support available at a 1:7-8 ratio
• Unit uses CPAP and heated high flow equipment as needed for respiratory support
• House-wide telemetry monitoring using Philips monitors
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required (Sat/Sun nights as Fri/Sat)
• No call or standby requirements
• Travel RNs may occasionally float to other Med Surg floors as needed
• Charge RN present on every shift plus 24/7 House Supervisor coverage

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience preferred, particularly in postoperative surgical and general med surg care
• BSN not required for this position
• Must pass a drug screen for all panels as part of a Drug-Free Campus policy

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a mix of medical surgical, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma fracture patients
• Collaborate with a support team including charge RNs, house supervisors, and PCTs
• Unit-specific orientation consists of two sessions
• Any color of scrubs is permitted, with a professional appearance required; tattoos and piercings must be covered
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local pay rate
• No radius restriction applies to eligibility for this position
• COVID vaccination is not required for consideration
