JD North America is a leader in the manufacturing and distribution of outdoor power equipment for residential and commercial customers. The Product Engineer will focus on creating, designing, and testing new products and work on improving and maintaining existing products. They will work closely with various teams within JD North America, which include marketing, engineering, sales, and suppliers to bring products from concept to production launch. The product engineers focus is to ensure timing, quality, functionality, and business metrics are met.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

· Product Design:

o Design, create prototypes for new products and modify existing products

· Testing and Evaluation:

o Create thorough DVP&R for testing Prototypes / Pre-production samples to ensure functionality, safety, and identify and resolve any design shortcomings.

· Cross-functional Collaboration:

o Work with and lead various teams, including Marketing, Sales, Designers, Supply Chain and third-party testing facilities both within the US and outside the US.

o Communicate effectively with Internal management teams in North America and outside North America.

· Project Management:

o Manage project timelines, budget, monitor and resource progress throughout the product development cycle.

· Documentation:

o Documenting all aspects of the product design through PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)

· Compliance:

o Ensuring all products meet industry standards and regulations.

Required Skills:

· Technical Expertise: Strong foundation in engineering principles and consumer outdoor power equipment with working knowledge of portable battery products.

· Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. (Demonstrates a strong attention to detail and accountability to complete tasks and assignments.)

· Complex Problem- Solving: Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

· Product Management: Skills in planning, organizing, communication and executing projects to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines.

· Industry Knowledge: Understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Such as CSA, EPA, U.L., EMC, ISO, ANSI, etc.

· Innovation / Creativity: Ability to generate new ideas and develop innovative solutions.

· Demonstrate ability to plan and schedule work activities effectively. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, in a small, fast-paced business culture.

Qualifications:

· Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.

· Experience: Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Engineering and Project Engineering. Project management experience in product development of residential outdoor power equipment with focused experience in the areas of but not limited to pressure washers and snow products. Portable Battery product knowledge is also a plus.

• Proficiency in project management and business software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Office 365).
• Strong understanding of consumer outdoor power equipment.
• Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and processes.
• Experience presenting to executive leadership and external partners.

· This role requires working knowledge and ability to work in CREO, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software to create layouts, analyze customer requirements, and generate detailed technical proposals that align with project specifications and customer needs.
