Position Overview
We are seeking a Fire Alarm & Low Voltage Apprentice Technician I to assist with the installation, inspection, service, and repair of fire alarm systems, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage life safety systems. This is an entry-level or early-career role with opportunities for training, certifications, and advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, wiring, programming, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems and low-voltage systems (access control, CCTV, security, communication systems, etc.).
- Assist with performing routine inspections , testing , and maintenance on fire alarm and life safety equipment.
- Support senior technicians with system layouts, device mounting, cable routing, and equipment setup.
- Complete service tickets, inspection reports, and documentation accurately.
- Ensure all work complies with NFPA codes , manufacturer instructions, and company standards.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in clean working condition.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and team members.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies.
Qualifications
Required:
- Basic knowledge of electrical or low-voltage systems OR willingness to learn.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work on lifts or elevated surfaces.
- Good communication, time management, and teamwork abilities.
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience with fire alarm, security, or low-voltage installations.
- Familiarity with NFPA 72, NEC, or relevant industry standards.
- Any fire alarm or low-voltage certifications (NICET, manufacturer training, etc.).
- Any fire alarm or low-voltage State Licenses.
