About CAL Sports Academy
Youth Soccer Coach opportunities at CAL Sports Academy are designed for experienced, dependable, and enthusiastic coaches who want to teach the game, develop young athletes, and help build a strong soccer program.
Founded in 2006, CAL Sports Academy provides youth sports instruction, training, leagues, camps, clinics, private training, and athlete development opportunities designed to help young people grow both on and off the field.
Our goal is to create positive, organized, and development focused environments where athletes can improve their soccer skills while building confidence, character, discipline, leadership, teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
We believe coaches play an important role in a young athlete's development. The way a coach teaches, communicates, prepares, leads, and responds to challenges can influence an athlete long after a program or season ends.
Position Overview
CAL Sports Academy is seeking an experienced, dependable, and enthusiastic Youth Soccer Coach to provide soccer instruction, private training, small group training, camps, clinics, and other player development opportunities.
This position is especially important as CAL Sports Academy works to expand and rebuild its soccer programming. We are looking for someone who can not only coach athletes effectively, but also contribute ideas, structure, curriculum, and leadership as the program grows.
The ideal candidate understands player development, communicates well with athletes and families, can independently lead organized training sessions, and is comfortable helping develop new soccer programs for different ages and skill levels.
This opportunity is well suited for someone who wants to coach while also contributing to the long term development of soccer within CAL Sports Academy.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead organized, engaging, and age appropriate soccer instruction for youth athletes.
- Lead individual, semi private, small group, and team soccer training sessions as opportunities become available.
- Teach soccer fundamentals including dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, first touch, footwork, movement, defending, positioning, decision making, and game awareness.
- Help athletes develop soccer IQ and a stronger understanding of individual and team concepts.
- Design structured and engaging training sessions for athletes of different ages and skill levels.
- Prepare lesson plans, drills, and training progressions in advance of assigned programs.
- Adapt instruction for beginner, intermediate, and more experienced athletes.
- Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, correction, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
- Evaluate athlete strengths, developmental needs, and areas for continued improvement.
- Help athletes develop confidence, discipline, communication, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and a positive approach to competition.
- Develop and lead soccer camps, clinics, workshops, and special training opportunities.
- Assist CAL Sports Academy leadership with developing soccer programs, curriculum, and athlete development pathways.
- Help identify appropriate programming for athletes at different ages and stages of development.
- Communicate professionally with athletes, parents, fellow coaches, and CAL Sports Academy staff.
- Maintain a safe, positive, organized, and encouraging training environment.
- Set up and break down training equipment before and after programs.
- Maintain appropriate athlete development records or progress notes when required.
- Arrive prepared and on time for all assigned programs.
- Represent CAL Sports Academy with professionalism, enthusiasm, integrity, and respect.

- Positive, energetic, patient, and encouraging coaching style.
- Strong leadership, teaching, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with athletes and families.
- Dependability, punctuality, organization, and preparation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with CAL Sports Academy coaches and staff.
- Willingness to receive feedback, continue learning, and work within CAL Sports Academy's coaching philosophy and organizational standards.
- Genuine interest in helping build and grow soccer programming within CAL Sports Academy.
Preferred Background

- Competitive high school, club, collegiate, semi professional, collegiate, professional, or other advanced soccer playing experience.

- Saturdays: approximately 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Additional camp, clinic, private training, team training, and special event opportunities as soccer programming grows.
Coaches are not required to be available every day. However, consistent weekly availability is important for developing dependable programming and strong relationships with athletes and families.
Help Build the Future of Soccer at CAL
This opportunity goes beyond simply stepping into an existing class schedule. We are looking for someone who is interested in helping CAL Sports Academy develop a stronger and more sustainable soccer presence.
Depending on experience, performance, and organizational needs, the coach may have opportunities to contribute to:

Soccer coaches may have opportunities to collaborate with members of the CAL Sports Academy coaching and leadership team, receive feedback and mentorship, exchange ideas, strengthen their teaching and leadership skills, and contribute to the continued development of our programs.
Expanded coaching and program development responsibilities are based on experience, readiness, performance, reliability, available opportunities, and organizational needs.

Compensation is based on soccer background, coaching experience, teaching ability, qualifications, responsibilities, and overall fit.
Additional earning opportunities may become available through private training, small group training, camps, clinics, team training, and expanded soccer programming.
