The Senior Paralegal ensures the efficient operation of all paralegal functions. The Senior Paralegal replaces the Firm owner’s need to carefully attend to the daily administrative legal services operations of the Firm, and frees up her time to focus on growing the business.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Paralegal must be physically and mentally capable of performing and supervising the performance of (but is not limited to) the following duties:

  • Work with other BMLG personnel as needed to properly execute the duties of the Senior Paralegal.
  • Responsible for ongoing paralegal training.
  • Responsible for monitoring productivity of junior paralegals.
  • Responsible for creating and/or maintaining an “Office/Paralegal Procedures Manual”.
  • Collaborate directly with clients (and their financial advisors as needed) to retitle assets or update beneficiary designations in accordance with trust documents.
  • Draft estate planning documents, trust certifications, guardianship petitions, and ancillary filings.
  • Communicate directly with clients to collect information, answer questions, and provide clarifications
  • Assist with client intake setup and maintain documentation in our internal systems.
  • Review and interpret Asset Detail Reports to confirm funding status and track progress.
  • Ensure client-provided documentation, including financial statements and account information, is complete and uploaded to the portal.
  • Complete and prepare institution-specific forms to facilitate funding actions.
  • Educate clients on the importance and mechanics of trust funding through clear, supportive communication.
  • Monitor and manage multiple funding files simultaneously while meeting response and follow-up timelines.
  • Coordinate with Attorney or Client Services Director (CSD) on any complex issues when necessary.
  • Report regularly to the BMLG Owner
  • Attend Finance and Personnel Meetings, as needed
  • Uphold the BMLG Mission Statement

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong knowledge of business English in composition to include correspondence, reports, and various other materials.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of estate planning and trust administration legalese.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail—must be comfortable managing multiple client files concurrently.
  • Experience drafting legal documents.
  • Strong drafting skills, with minimal grammatical errors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional, client-focused, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Tech-savvy: ability to use client portals, document management tools, digital forms, and comfortable navigating other legal platforms and tools.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize workload based on internal and external customer needs.
  • Ability to meet and deal with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • 6+ years’ experience in a Paralegal position.
  • Proficient in MS Office with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Mac proficiency is a plus.

  • Demonstrate follow-up skills and persistence in achieving completion of tasks.
  • Experience working with client communications, preferably in legal, financial, or estate planning fields.
  • Familiarity with financial documentation, such as account statements and beneficiary forms.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
