We are dedicated to Making the world a more readable placeTM, delivering high-quality, accessible documents for our clients in healthcare, finance, and education. SUMMARYWe are looking for a Software Development Engineer to support feature development and modernization across our Automation Software team. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building and improving software that supports accessible document workflows. The role includes feature development, bug fixes, collaboration with teammates, participation in planning and requirement refinement, and contribution to code quality through reviews and maintainable implementation.We are looking for someone who can contribute effectively within a team environment, communicate clearly, and continue growing in technical ownership over time.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:The essential functions listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Software Development & Feature DeliveryDesign, build, and maintain features that support project goals and user needs.Contribute to modernization efforts that improve maintainability, consistency, and long-term quality across the codebase.Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code aligned with architecture and team standards.Troubleshooting & Issue ResolutionTroubleshoot and resolve bugs, defects, and technical issues in existing applications.Analyze root causes and implement sustainable fixes to prevent recurrence.Collaboration & PlanningParticipate in planning and requirement refinement to translate business needs into actionable development work.Collaborate with engineers, QA, and stakeholders to support delivery of reliable software.Code Quality & Continuous ImprovementContribute to code reviews and apply feedback to improve code quality and team consistency.Support continuous improvement in development practices, documentation, and technical quality. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTSRequired:1–2+ years of professional software development experienceExperience with C#, SQL, JavaScript, .NET Core, and BlazorExperience building or enhancing application features within a team development environmentAbility to troubleshoot issues, resolve defects, and work through moderately complex technical problemsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical team membersPreferred:Experience contributing to modernization or refactoring efforts within an existing applicationExperience participating in code reviews and applying coding standards consistentlyExperience assisting with refinement of requirements, acceptance criteria, or development tasks prior to implementationFamiliarity with secure development practices and handling sensitive dataExperience working with accessible document workflows, document processing systems, or similarly detail-focused applicationsFamiliarity with CI/CD processes, source control, and standard team development practicesSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESMay lead and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and overseeing their development within the team. WORK ENVIRONMENTThis position operates in a hybrid work environment with the expectation that the employee is able to report to the designated office location as needed for meetings, trainings, audits, or other business requirements. This role may require periodic on-site presence based on business needs.
