Material Handler

Republic Airways is seeking Material Handlers to join us at our Columbus, Ohio base. This position is responsible for maintaining, shipping, and handling aircraft parts and materials. Flight privileges across our three codeshare partnerships – American, Delta, and United. Position Purpose Maintains, ships, and handles aircraft parts and materials. Ensures timely location and acquisition of parts/materials for maintenance. Essential Duties Accurately issue and deliver parts and materials to various departments. Ensure timely location and acquisition of parts/materials for maintenance using the computer tracking system and other resources. Ensure proper handling of aircraft parts during transactions, shipping, and receiving to avoid damage, flight cancellations or delays. Perform accurate and timely computer system transactions including parts/materials issue and returns, warehouse transfers and bin transfers. Receive and inspect parts and materials; log information in the computer. Ensure parts/materials are properly stored, identified and comply with Shelf Life programs. Expedite past‑due repair and purchase orders for critical spare requirements. Maintain awareness of Suspected Unapproved Parts (SUP) to prevent entry of SUP into company inventories. Perform shipping functions of both hazardous/non‑hazardous material using a variety of options, including creating and delivering counter‑to‑counter shipments for air transport. Review the computer system daily for open requisitions to determine if requested parts/materials are still needed and to cancel/delete outdated requisitions. Conduct inventory cycle counts and accurately report discrepancies. Work with different departments to ensure maintenance tasks are completed to support the organization. Conduct monthly self‑audits including shelf life, hazardous shipping files and various FAA audits. Maintain tooling needed to perform maintenance tasks. Maintain a secure, clean and orderly stockroom per company policies and procedures and FAA requirements. Ensure compliance with hazardous materials/dangerous goods regulations. Follow and comply with all Environmental Protection Agency policies that impact the airline. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent. At least 18 years old. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Ability to operate forklifts and other machinery. Ability to pass and remain current on HAZMAT Dangerous Goods Handling course. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and Word. Willingness to travel for training and company needs. Self‑starter who can provide excellent customer service. Preferred Education and/or Experience Previous experience in warehouse, parts, supply chain, etc. is helpful. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees. Ability to properly communicate between departments. Reasoning/Problem Solving Ability Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Decision Making Make limited decisions and determine best methods to solve problems by referring to established precedents and policies. Impact of decisions is moderately low. Physical Demands Focus with clear vision at 20 inches or less (computer screen). Lift or move up to 50 pounds. Work Environment Work in outdoor weather conditions within an open air hangar. Exposed to moderate noise. Travel Requirements Travel up to 10% of the time, including overnight travel. Ability to work a schedule that supports 24‑hour operations.
