Job Overview This is a contract job to hire opportunity. It is a float job. Location: Itasca IL and suburbs. Location Itasca IL and suburbs (float job). Schedule 7AM-8PM M-F (need to be available, but will work an 8-hour shift). Rotating Saturdays, but employees may work multiple weekends in a row. Float Locations Will float to following locations: [locations not specified]. Experience Requirements Minimum 2 years of experience required, and must have pediatric experience drawing on newborns. Responsibilities Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required; demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understands all of the physician's orders and matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order. Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure 100% correctness. Packages specimens for transport, stores specimen samples according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately labels them, and follows specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport. Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual department trainings. Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Provides high customer service. Minimum Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED.
