AmbuSun is an AI revenue cycle management (RCM) services startup. We handle billing end to end for ambulatory surgery centers and physician practices, from charge capture through denials and AR follow-up. Our billers work encounters using software our own engineers build alongside them.

Why this role exists

Our smaller clients hand us their entire revenue cycle, not just their denials. At our stage we need all-rounders more than an army of specialists: one person who can carry an account end to end, from charge capture to the last appeal. This is not a queue-grinder seat: you will own the full cycle for real accounts. You'll also work closely with our engineers, testing the internal tools as you work and telling them what to build next.

What you'll do

• Own the full billing cycle for assigned accounts: charge capture, claims submission, eligibility checks, and payment posting
• Code and review encounters (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers) so claims go out clean the first time
• Work AR follow-up and prioritize aging accounts by dollars and deadlines, including timely filing limits
• Investigate the root cause of denials, correct and rework claims, and file appeals that stick
• Call payers and navigate portals to resolve follow-ups and appeals
• Apply write-offs and adjustments accurately and keep patient balances clean and explainable
• Give the engineering team direct feedback on the internal billing tools as you work them

What we're looking for

Must have:

• Hands-on experience across the billing cycle: claims submission, payment posting, denials, and AR follow-up
• Active CPC certification, with coding competence to match: CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and a working command of modifiers
• Billing experience in an ambulatory surgery center and / or private practice with 5+ providers
• Experience with at least one of: eClinicalWorks, athena, NextGen, SIS, HST, Tebra
• Clearinghouse experience: Waystar, or clearinghouse work inside an all-in-one PM like athena
• Authorized to work in the US

Preferred:

• Waystar specifically (strongly preferred)
• Multispecialty background, or depth in ortho / spine / pain, ophthalmology, GI, or OB/GYN
• You've been the whole billing department at a small practice before, charge entry and eligibility included
• CPB, CMRS, or CRCS certification on top of the CPC (a plus, not required)
• 5+ years of medical billing (strong fit offsets fewer years)

Pay and benefits

• $30.00–$35.00 per hour, with the possibility for more for exceptional candidates
• Full-time (W-2): medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus PTO; ideally Monday to Friday (can also swap weekdays and weekend days), with some west coast overlap and otherwise flexible hours
• Part-time: same hourly range, schedule agreed around payer business hours
• Remote anywhere in the US; you'll need a quiet workspace and reliable internet
