Solventum's Health & Information Systems business unit is seeking a highly motivated leader for teams developing software products used domestically and internationally. We are developing next-gen products to better suit our customer's needs both on premises and in the cloud.

Leading the architecture and strategy for Solventum's enterprise-scale AI/ML data engineering platforms with knowledge of associated cloud-native services.

Strategizing engineering direction to implement secure, scalable, and compliant AI solutions that support clinical insights, operational intelligence, and generative AI use cases across Solventum's healthcare product ecosystem.

Guiding the teams on cloud, data, and model governance patterns that ensure responsible AI, auditability, observability, model monitoring, and regulatory alignment (HIPAA, HITRUST, PHI/PII protections).

Mentoring product leaders, data scientists, and engineering teams by providing deep technical guidance on cloud architecture, ML Ops, integration patterns, and platform modernization efforts.

Growing and managing a high-performing team while also working with partners and customers to build a global and world-class health data engineering organization.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide direct technical supervision of one or more teams responsible for developing HIS products, including Developers and Quality Assurance. This includes hiring, establishing and tracking goals and objectives, assigning workload, training, and facilitating the performance review process.
• Assist Technical Product Owner for a team working both to deliver HIS grouping content under the existing technology stack while simultaneously architecting and developing the replacement technology stack in a methodical manner.
• Set technical direction and establish, prioritize and work with the development team to define and update the team's backlog in concert with Tech Leads.
• Mentor development staff with duties such as analysis, software design, prototyping, coding, debugging, test case creation, test case automation, test case execution, documentation, support, infrastructure maintenance.
• Participate on cross-functional teams, coordinate and communicate with Product Owners, Business Leaders, Developers and others.
• Champion Agile principles throughout the organization
• Create an atmosphere of innovation and enable professional growth
• Conflict / Change management ownership to ensure productivity

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a Computer Science, Information Systems discipline or related field from an accredited university and Ten (10) years of software development experience
• Three (3) year team leadership experience (supervisor, manager, team lead)
• Two (2) years of experience leading the design and delivery of agentic AI frameworks and systems (multi-step reasoning, planning, tool use, and autonomous workflows) in production environments.
• Two (2) years of deep expertise in LLM architecture and orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, custom agents) and model routing.
• Six (6) years of strong background in building scalable distributed systems using modern backend technologies (Python/Java), microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other established cloud providers
• Demonstrated ability to design and enforce AI safety, guardrails, and governance frameworks, including prompt injection defense, data privacy. Building evaluation and observability systems for AI agents, including automated testing, human in the loop validation, tracing, and scalability.
• Experience with consuming Web services and web application development (SOAP/REST, Javascript/Angular)
• Experience CI/CD
• Experience with Java software development
• Familiar with SQL and relational database design
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience working with distributed team members
• Ability to solve problems in a logical, methodical, and time efficient manner
• Ability to direct and influence others

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $187,600 - $257,950, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
