Loader OperatorThe Loader Operator safely loads, moves, and manages various materials such as ash, dirt, and rock using heavy construction equipment in a production-focused environment. This role operates equipment equipped with blades to clear and level terrain, supports barge loading and unloading operations, and performs routine equipment maintenance. The position requires strong attention to safety, the ability to coordinate with crew members, and the flexibility to perform additional tasks as assigned.ResponsibilitiesLoad and move materials including ash, dirt, rock, and similar substances using heavy construction equipment.Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes to remove topsoil, vegetation, and rocks, and to distribute and level earth or terrain.Coordinate machine movements with other site activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what type of maintenance is needed to keep machinery in safe operating condition.Quickly and repeatedly adjust machine controls to precise positions as necessary to ensure accurate and efficient operation.Learn, follow, and actively promote all site and company safety regulations and procedures.Support loading and unloading of approximately 3–4 barges per week, with an average handling time of about four hours per barge.Work a flexible schedule, typically Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m., with potential Saturday work and the option to start earlier in the day as needed.Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to ensure smooth operations and safe work practices.Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall project and site objectives.Essential SkillsMinimum of three years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or similar environment, including excavating and front loader operation.Proficiency operating loaders and other heavy equipment in a production-focused environment.Demonstrated experience with loading and unloading operations, including barge-related activities.Valid driver's license.Ability to quickly and accurately adjust equipment controls to exact positions.Strong understanding of and adherence to safety regulations and safe operating practices.Ability to perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment and recognize when additional maintenance is required.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a changing environment with time constraints.Effective verbal communication skills to respond to hand and audio signals and coordinate with crew members.Additional Skills & QualificationsOSHA 10 certification.Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and other construction machinery.Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in ash management, structural fills, and landfills (preferred).Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance (preferred).High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).Experience working in a construction or heavy civil environment with production targets (preferred).Why Work Here?Join a well-established environmental contractor with over 35 years of experience operating across multiple states, offering long-term stability and the potential to transition to a permanent role. The schedule requires flexibility, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as project needs arise. The position is physically demanding and requires the ability to climb, maintain body equilibrium, reach, grasp, bend, and walk, stand, or sit for extended periods. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in areas with loud noise levels. The work environment may expose you to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or areas with limited ventilation. You will need to work effectively under pressure, manage time constraints, and adapt to changing site conditions while maintaining clear communication and strong teamwork.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Bend, OH.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
