This role is ideal for highly adaptable nurses who enjoy caring for a diverse patient population while earning a competitive premium rate. Float Pool RNs have the opportunity to work in various patient care settings and make an immediate impact where they are needed most.
What You'll Do
As a Float Pool RN, you will provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality patient care across multiple departments and facilities based on operational needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Deliver direct and indirect patient care to a diverse patient population
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Provide nursing care within your scope of practice and demonstrated competencies
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies accurately and safely
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Monitor patient conditions and respond rapidly to changes in status
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes
- Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards
- Adapt quickly to new units, workflows, and patient populations
- Float to assigned departments and facilities as needed to support patient care operations
Units You May Support
Based on competency, experience, and staffing needs, Float Pool RNs may provide care in areas including:
- Medical/Surgical
- Telemetry
- Emergency Department
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Step Down/Progressive Care
- Other specialty units as assigned
Travel Requirements
This PRN Float Pool position supports staffing needs across Deaconess Illinois facilities and requires travel between:
- Deaconess Illinois Medical Center (Marion)
- Deaconess Illinois Crossroads Hospital (Mt. Vernon)
- Deaconess Illinois Union County Hospital (Anna)
Mileage reimbursement is not provided for travel between facilities.
Qualifications
Required
- Current, unrestricted Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Preceptor and/or Charge Nurse experience
- Ability to work independently and adapt to multiple clinical environments
Preferred
- Minimum of two years of recent acute care nursing experience
- Advanced certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or specialty certifications based on unit assignments
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced healthcare settings
Compensation & Incentives
Premium Float Pool Pay
- PRN Days: $55.00/hour
- PRN Nights: Additional $7.00/hour differential
Performance Bonus
Potential eligibility for performance-based bonus opportunities based on established metrics and organizational guidelines.
