The Pharmacy Services Representative plays a key role in a closed-door mail order pharmacy, combining pharmacy technician support with high-quality customer service. In this position, you support pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, process prescription and customer orders accurately, conduct drug utilization and interaction checks, and respond to patient and provider inquiries with professionalism and empathy. You help ensure that every prescription meets quality, safety, and regulatory standards while contributing to an efficient, patient-focused pharmacy operation.

Responsibilities

+ Provide excellent customer support by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and managing escalations with professionalism, empathy, and a focus on patient satisfaction.

+ Accurately process customer and prescription orders through the mail order system and ensure timely fulfillment and shipment.

+ Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently in accordance with applicable regulations and internal protocols.

+ Perform DUR (Drug Utilization Review) checks and drug interaction checks to support safe and appropriate medication use.

+ Follow up with patients and healthcare providers regarding prescriptions, refills, clarifications, and any issues related to medication orders.

+ Respond to two-way texting and other communication channels to address questions, provide updates, and resolve concerns.

+ Label and package medications for mail order distribution, ensuring all prescriptions are filled correctly and meet quality standards.

+ Verify patient information and prescription details for accuracy before processing and dispensing medications.

+ Monitor and maintain medication inventory levels to support uninterrupted pharmacy operations.

+ Order medications and supplies as needed to ensure adequate stock and support timely fulfillment of prescriptions.

+ Conduct regular inventory checks and assist with inventory audits to maintain accurate stock records.

+ Input prescription data and related information into the pharmacy information system with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

+ Provide responsive, courteous service to patients and healthcare providers, addressing inquiries and concerns related to medication orders and delivery.

+ Assist with resolving issues related to delayed, incorrect, or problematic orders in a timely and customer-focused manner.

+ Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to pharmacy practice, as well as internal policies and procedures.

+ Maintain accurate and complete records of all prescription orders, transactions, and related documentation.

+ Safeguard the confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.

+ Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of pharmacy services.

+ Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to streamline operations and enhance the patient experience.

+ Promptly report any medication errors or discrepancies to the supervising pharmacist and support corrective actions.

+ Support pharmacists with administrative tasks and other operational duties as needed.

+ Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy work area.

+ Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with pharmacy practices, regulations, and technology.

+ Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support the overall success and growth of the pharmacy.

Essential Skills

+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ At least 2 years of experience in a retail or mail order pharmacy setting.

+ Active pharmacy technician license or certification as required by state law.

+ Demonstrated experience performing pharmacy-related data entry with a high level of accuracy.

+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing prescriptions and handling patient information.

+ Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with patients, providers, and colleagues by phone and text.

+ Proven customer service skills in a fast-paced environment.

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy pharmacy setting.

+ Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices relevant to pharmacy technician work.

+ Proficiency with pharmacy software systems, technology platforms, and data entry tools.

+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work to meet deadlines and service expectations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Completion of a pharmacy technician training program is preferred.

+ Pharmacy Technician Board Certification (such as CPhT) is a plus.

+ Experience working as a certified pharmacy technician in a mail order or call center environment is highly beneficial.

+ Experience handling high-volume phone calls and two-way texting with patients and providers.

+ Demonstrated ability to contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle escalated issues with professionalism.

+ Comfort working with inventory management processes, including audits and stock reconciliation.

+ Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in pharmacy practice.

Work Environment

This role is based in a closed-door mail order pharmacy environment in Indianapolis, IN. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch, and the pharmacy is closed on major holidays and weekends. You will work on-site alongside approximately 22 pharmacy technicians and 3 pharmacists in a collaborative, fast-growing operation that is expanding into an adjacent suite to support continued growth and the addition of a second shift. The environment is professional and team-oriented, with supportive executive leadership and opportunities to help shape processes as the pharmacy expands. Work involves extensive use of pharmacy information systems, phones, and computer-based tools for data entry, order processing, and communication. The pharmacy emphasizes accuracy, safety, confidentiality, and organization, with a clean, well-maintained workspace and a culture that values initiative, collaboration, and the ability to make a meaningful impact in a growing organization.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
